  "MAKING LADOOS"
  "Making Ladoos" is a festival of Asian arts & culture, celebrating the rich diversity & vibrancy of South Asian arts alongside contemporary work which springs from the meeting of different cultures. There are over 18 productions at The Bull during March & April, embracing the full range of performance arts alongside exhibitions & a comprehensive programme of workshops & debates.   As part of the festival, The Bull Gallery is showing an exhibition of leading British Asian woman artists, who through the media of film, digital imagery, painting & photographic installation, tackle the complex issues of identity & sexuality.   Paintings by the leading Indian artist Arpana Caur. Pre-colonial miniatures of the hill stations around Jammu combined with post-cubist expressionism, reflecting the visual tensions in today's world.   Set in 1970s Salford, East Is East is a comic & touching look at the generation gap in the family-run chip shop. An early Pakistani immigrant to Britain and devout Muslim marries a local Lancashire girl and has seven children. The eldest son disobeys his father and runs off to become a hairdresser in Eccles, leaving the other children the unenviable task of living up o their father's expectations.   M6 THEATRE COMPANY - TWO DAYS AS A TIGER
  Today at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre, London, 7pm. M6's 100th production is their first ever bilingual theatre project. Focusing on themes of friendship & the environment, Doh Din Kay Shere /Two Days as a Tiger uses Urdu, Punjabi & English to create an hour of rich & absorbing theatre for 8-12 year olds. With music & design reflecting this blend of cultures, the play enhances a positive attitude towards social diversity, crossing cultural thresholds, & the skill of bilingualism. It has been developed in local multi-cultural schools & communities, and will tour the country from February. Available for further bookings. Teachers pack also available.

First half: Priya Pawar and the Banerjee Sisters present Odissi dance in traditional and progressive styles. Second half: a new dance, Yantrik , performed by The Banerjee Sisters Maya Dance - a group comprising four dancers of Asian, English & African origin & four musicians.
