ABOUT THE INDIA & PAKISTAN ANNIVERSARY PROJECT
1997 is the fiftieth anniversary of India's independence and Pakistan's statehood. Visiting Arts will mark the jubilee year with the India & Pakistan Anniversary Project, which brings together details of all events in Britain related to the anniversary. The aim of the Project is to show how the cultures of India and Pakistan are enriching all aspects of British life. As such, while most events will be arts based (e.g. dance, drama, music, exhibitions), the Project is also concerned with events in other fields, such as business and education. The focus of Visiting Arts is usually on foreign arts in Britain. However, the India & Pakistan Anniversary Project will include British hosts, performers and interested organisations as well as those visiting from India and Pakistan.
The India & Pakistan Anniversary Project will make this information available in four formats:
1. A web site listing of events by date, type, organisation and location, updated on an ongoing basis.
2. A hard copy listing of events, drawn from the web site and available on request.
3. A commemorative publication featuring the main events, to be published in July in time for the August India Independence Day and Pakistan Statehood Day.
4. A retrospective directory of events and of the organisations involved in the Project, to be published in November.
If your organisation is planning an India or Pakistan related event for 1997, and would like it included by the India & Pakistan Anniversary Project, please send us the following details:
i) date(s) of event (month only if date not confirmed)
