Med res (640*480 pixels, 44 KBytes) Downstream view taken from the Northern end of Teston bridge, revealing how close the level is getting to the roadway.
Med res (640*480, 78K Bytes) Teston lock and weir taken from the closest possible point of pedestrian access. Rather too low-resolution, but the middle of the picture is attempting to show that the balance beams are nearly submerged.
Med res (640*480, 55K Bytes) Teston lock and weir taken from across the water meadows, under normal conditions the water level would drop about 6 feet through the weir and lock - today it is just belting across the tops of both.
Med res (640*480, 57K Bytes) Upstream shot of Teston bridge. The bush in the middle of the shot, and the lifebouy stand on the extreme right, are on the normal river bank.
Med res (640*480, 43K Bytes) Upstream view Teston lock and weir, taken from the Northern end of the bridge. This camera is perhaps too low in resolution to accurately show the foaming, boiling nature of the river today. I have taken some 35mm shots which shall appear on this page when developed.
Med res (640*480, 53K Bytes). Upstream view of the automatic sluices at Yalding, showing them fully raised to let the river pass straight through unfettered.
Med res (640*480, 58K Bytes) Downstream view of the automatic sluices at Yalding taken from the Eastern end of Twyford Bridge. In summer, this pool is no deeper than 2 feet - today, because the sluices are open, it is over 15 feet deep (and rising...).
Med res (640*480, 48K Bytes) Downstream view of Yalding Lees (the water meadows) taken from the Western end of Twyford Bridge. If the water rises another 12 inches, just about the whole of the Lees will be submerged.
Med res (640*480, 51K Bytes) Picture taken between the the automatic sluice at Yalding, and Tywford brige, overlooking the pool where we paddle in Summer.
