Fr Paul's Welcome
An Introduction from Fr Paul
a few pictures 2005 Pilgrimage ... article |
The Italianate Church of St George the Martyr serves the growing and busy community of Wash Common to the south of Newbury, the site of the first battle of Newbury in 1643. It also serves as a memorial to the fallen of the First World War and the thousands that died here in that Civil War battle. From the 1960's St George's took Responauts (people whose breathing depends upon mechanical aid) under its care following the pioneering work of Doris Page.
