A Collection of Interesting Nativities

The following links lead to the nativities of various characters connected or interesting to William Lilly. The data and some other information have been extracted from the three volumes of Nativitas by James Martin Harvey and published by Triom, Sao Paulo 1997.

Harvey's research is thorough and scholarly, but we do not claim that these data are definitive. Caution should also be exercised when attempting to reproduce data which precedes the institution of mean time, or clock-time standardisation. Harvey himself goes to great lengths to understand the meaning of phrases such as "sun rise", "a little after sunset" and so on, which produce problems of greater complexity than is at first apparent. In most instances of older chart data, Harvey uses apparent or sun dial time; the computer generated charts in this series of articles uses local apparent time. They are also all erected using the Regiomontanus house system.

For all the wonderful work that Mr. Harvey has done, it is clear that an examination of the original documents is required in some instances. In terms of research, these instances are relatively minor, but become more important when accurate reproduction of the astrological work of old is required.

If you wish to reproduce or publish any of this material, full credit should be given to Harvey and Triom, the owners of the copyright. It would also show appreciation if you were to link directly to the Triom site at www.triom.com.br .
