Inigo Jones - 1600
In 1616 Sir Dudley Digges built the present Chilham
Castle to plans reputed to be the work of Inigo Jones. The
house forms five sides of a hexagon and was built from
bricks made on the estate. It is a fine example of Jacobean
architecture.
