The school has won £250 in the Poetry Now Young Writers' Competition for Primary Schools. We have gained one of the five second prizes nationally, along with schools from Bristol, Durham, Devon and Cumbria. Just over a year ago Mrs Callow submitted a number of poems written by our Key Stage two pupils. Two girls, Jessica Besley and Jenna Allen have been awarded prizes for their poems in the regional anthology.
Congratulations to Fiona Rippon and Rebecca Crites, winners of the Allison Homes Name a Road Competition. They have received prizes from Mr Robinson, Development Director of Allison Homes, along with £50 for the School. Their entry Daubeney Avenue, will form the main route into the development.
On Friday 5th February, the school took part in UNICEF's Day for Change - a national non-uniform day. Pupils raise funds - a minimum 20p donation for non-uniform dress - to help unicefs work in helping to create a brighter future for children in Mozambique.
In our morning Assembly recently we welcomed Mrs Spencer from the Church of England Children's Society. She spoke of the work of the Society and left candle collection boxes for those pupils who wished to do some fundraising.
The candle boxes were linked to the Christingle Service in St Botolph's Church on 7th February. Boxes were returned to school beforehand or brought to the service, The School Choir sang two songs.
