News from the Reliant Factory
As these first pictures of the new car show, Reliant is re-introducing the Bond Bug. However, the three-wheeled version that became a cult car in the Seventies now gets an extra wheel. The new model is aimed firmly at attracting a younger audience to join Reliant's dedicated army of three-wheeler fans. The Bond Bug will go on sale in the summer with a pricetag of around 6,000 GB Pounds and a top speed of just over 100mph from the modified 800cc engine. Reliant Motors' boss Jonathan Heynes said that the Bug will be the first of a new generation of four-wheeled models to join the company's line-up, including a new two-seater sports car later on this year. The sports car is likely to see the return of the Scimitar name, and a price of between 10,000GBP and 12,000GBP will make it the cheapest soft-top on the market. But Heynes said that the three-wheelers will continue to be the mainstay of Reliant's production, with a series of commercial models being introduced, including a diesel version.
